Not entirely sure where this little frog came from but I showed it to a friend and he said “it looks Mesoamerican somehow” and one of my eyebrows went up thinking “Dear Glob! I unconsciously manifested and composed together elements that I didn’t know were memorized somewhere in my head” and all the more, it all fits together. The natural habitat of my blue and gold frog, the decorative elements and the music I will assign to it. I started thinking how I’m able to contain and then graphically depict a narrative. I’m not aware it’s always a straightforward process but then the flow seems to find connections and to inform the piece. I’ve gotten confused at this point and can’t tell if I see the shapes first or the colours or hear the sounds. Maybe it’s none and after I finish, because of my character and my default need for reasoning, I maniacally start to connect these imaginary dots and condense elements into a narrative. Some learned heads say that free will is an illusion "Experience teaches us no less clearly than reason, that men believe themselves free, simply because they are conscious of their actions, and unconscious of the causes whereby those actions are determined." What do I know?!
